Meerut: Boiler explosion in cold storage claims five lives, rescue operation underway 

Meerut: In an unfortunate turn of events, an explosion due to a cold storage boiler claimed 5 lives in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut. By the time of writing this story, at least 15 labours are trapped under the debris. The accident occurred after the lenter of the cold storage plunged due to the explosion. The Daurala Police and local people carried out the rescue operation post the accident. Along with this, the NDRF team is also engaged in relief and rescue work. This cold storage belongs to Chandraveer Singh, former MLA from Sardhana.

Rescue work continues

According to reports, some labourers are currently buried under the debris. Of these, some have also fainted due to the leakage. The injured taken out of the debris were admitted to the hospital. The debris is being removed through JCB. A fire brigade vehicle is also present on the spot as an NDRF and SDRF teams are engaged in relief work.

Meerut ADG Zone Rajeev Sabharwal, Meerut Commissioner Selva Kumari J, DM, SSP, CO, SDM rushed to the spot after receiving the information. Union Minister Sanjeev Balyan, District Panchayat President Gaurav Chaudhary are also at the spot. Former District Panchayat President Seema Pradhan, wife of SP MLA Atul Pradhan, former MLA Sangeet Som etc. also arrived at the spot.
