Meerut News: Environmental Concerns Grow as AQI Hits 382; Adjoining Greater Noida and Ghaziabad No Better

Meerut News: The most polluted city in India on Monday was Meerut, located in Uttar Pradesh. The Meerut air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 382 on Monday. ‘Very terrible’ describes this. The AQI was calculated using the 24-hour average of 229 Indian cities as of October 23 at 4 p.m. Greater Noida had the worst air quality after Meerut. In this case, the AQI was 299, indicating “poor” quality.

How Pollution Levels Are Categorized

Six categories make up the AQI: good, satisfactory, moderately contaminated, poor, extremely poor, and severe/very poor. Air quality is classified as “good” on the AQI scale between 0 and 50, “satisfactory” between 51 and 100, “moderate” between 101 and 200, “poor” between 201 and 300, and “poor” between 301 and 400. “Very bad”, and “severe” is defined as falling between 401 and 450.

A Comparative Analysis

Faridabad’s AQI was 256, whereas Bahadurgarh’s was 262. Manesar, which is close to Gurugram, has an air quality index of 248 and was listed as one of India’s most polluted cities. In Noida, the AQI was 229, and in Ghaziabad, it was 220. Mumbai’s 177 AQI, however, was higher than Delhi-NCR’s. With an AQI of 182, Gurugram outperformed the surrounding areas as well.
