Meerut news: Sanjeev Maheshwari Jeeva, a native of Muzaffarnagar, spent nearly three decades engaging in criminal activity and involvement with a number of notorious gangs. Although he began his career as a compounder at a dispensary, he quickly made his way into the criminal underworld by kidnapping the shop’s very proprietor.
The Abduction and Ransom of a Kolkata Businessman’s Son
Soon after, he abducted the son of a businessman from Kolkata and demanded a ransom of 2 crore. This was a staggering ransom amount in the 1990s. He eventually joined the Haridwar Nazim gang and then the Satendra Barnala gang. According to police reports, his name surfaced in connection with the killing of BJP leader Brahm Dutt Dwivedi on February 10, 1997. In this instance, Jeeva was later given a life sentence. Additionally, Jeeva collaborated closely with Mukhtar Ansari and the mafia’s Munna Bajrangi. It is stated that whereas Mukhtar favoured cutting-edge weapons, Jeeva had a cunning network to gather them.

The Long List of Cases Against Sanjeev Jeeva and His Gang
24 cases were filed against him, according to the UP Police, in various Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Gazipur, Farrukhabad, and Hardwar police stations. He and his group committed robberies, kidnaps, extortions, murders, and other crimes. Additionally, the murder of former MLA Krishnanand Rai involved his name. He received a life sentence from the Farrukhabad district court last year. He was exonerated in numerous more instances, though. When he was shot on Wednesday inside a court in Lucknow, the trials of three charges against him were still ongoing. Police arrested Jeeva 22 times under the Gangster Act while looking into various allegations made against him. His property, valued at Rs. 4 crore, was also seized in accordance with the Act’s provisions. His property was just also seized by the government.

Sanjeev Jeeva’s Involvement in the Amit Dixit Case
In 2017, Jeeva was additionally charged with the murder of businessman Amit Dixit (commonly known as Goldie). The court gave him and three other defendants life sentences after conducting an investigation into the crime. Jeeva has been detained in the jail in Lucknow as a result. However, he allegedly used to run the gang even from behind bars. There are more than 35 people in his gang. His wife, Payal, ran for office in the 2017 assembly elections under the RLD banner. But she lost the battle. In 2021, Payal informed the then Chief Justice of India in a letter that Jeeva’s life was in danger. On Wednesday, when unidentified gunmen shot him dead, her fears came true.
