MP News: On Wednesday, the Madhya Pradesh government announced that, with the exception of the forest department, there will be a 35% reservation for women in recruitment. In order to give women in the state with upcoming elections a 35% reservation, the government has amended the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services (Special Provision for Appointment of Women) Rules, 1997.
35% Reservation for Women in Government Jobs Across Departments
“Notwithstanding anything contained in any service rules, there shall be reserved 35 percent of all posts in the service under the state (except Forest Department) in favour of women at the stage of direct recruitment and the said reservation shall be horizontal and compartment-wise,” the notification reads. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister, has declared that women would fill 35% of open positions in the police and other government agencies. He declared that the administration will reserve 50% of teaching positions for female candidates.
Ladli Bahna Yojana Accelerates Support Ahead of Election Announcement
The BJP government’s major welfare programme for women, “Ladli Bahna Yojana,” will hasten the distribution of financial support to beneficiaries for the month of October, according to Chouhan, who also stated that the assembly election date may be revealed soon. Each participant of the programme receives 1,250 each month from the state government.
Ladli Bahna Yojana Payments Expedited to Avoid Poll Restrictions
“I transfer the amount on the 10th (of every month), but I am transferring it in the accounts tomorrow (Wednesday) itself… because elections will be announced and we cannot do this during the time of polls (due to imposition of model code of conduct),” Chouhan said. By year’s end, Madhya Pradesh must have its assembly elections. The announcements are viewed as a significant outreach effort by the ruling BJP government since women voters have recently become a significant voting bloc.
