The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the cancellation of the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) after initial findings indicated potential compromise in the exam’s integrity. The decision, which affects thousands of candidates across the country, underscores the NTA’s commitment to maintaining high standards and fairness in its examinations.
Immediate Cancellation Follows Initial Findings of Compromise
In a statement released earlier today, the NTA confirmed that prima facie evidence had raised serious concerns about the sanctity of the recently conducted UGC-NET. “Following preliminary indications that the integrity of the UGC-NET has been compromised, we have decided to cancel the examination with immediate effect,” the NTA’s statement read.
The agency assured all affected candidates that further investigations are underway to determine the extent of the compromise. “Our priority is to ensure a transparent and fair examination process. We are working diligently to identify the issues and take necessary corrective actions,” the statement continued.
Candidates have been advised to await further instructions regarding the rescheduling of the exam and other related updates. The NTA emphasized that maintaining the credibility of the examination process is paramount and that it will take all necessary steps to restore trust.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges in ensuring the security and fairness of competitive examinations in the digital age. The NTA reiterated its commitment to upholding the highest standards of examination integrity and vowed to implement stronger measures to prevent future breaches.
Further details regarding the investigation and the rescheduled exam dates will be communicated to candidates through official channels in due course. The NTA has urged all candidates and stakeholders to remain patient and cooperative during this period.
