NCP Undergoes Historic Change! Supriya Sule and Praful Patel Appointed as Working Presidents by Sharad Pawar

Sharad Pawar

Sharad Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), appointed Supriya Sule and Praful Patel as the party’s acting presidents on Saturday. The declaration was made during the party’s foundation day event in Delhi in the presence of Ajit Pawar, Pawar’s nephew and the leader of the opposition in the Maharashtra legislature, who is rumoured to be engaged in a power struggle with Sule, Pawar’s daughter.

Supriya Sule Takes Charge of Maharashtra and Key States as Working President

Since Sharad Pawar has been leading the NCP alone for the past 24 years since the party was founded on June 10, 1999, this is the first time the organisation has functioning presidents. On May 3, the 82-year-old leader announced his resignation as the party’s national president, but he then reversed that statement. Sule has been granted control of Maharashtra, the party’s stronghold, according to Pawar. As the new working president, the Baramati MP would also manage the affairs of other states like Punjab and Haryana.

NCP Sets Sight on Expanding Support in Key States

According to the NCP leader, Patel will be in charge of developing the party’s support base in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Jharkhand, and Goa. The occasion also included senior leaders Chhagan Bhujbal and Sunil Ratkate among others. Even though I will continue in my role as president, Pawar had stated on May 5 that “I am of the firm conviction that there needs to be a succession plan for any office or duty in the organisation. In the future, I’ll concentrate on reorganising the party’s structure, delegating new tasks, and developing fresh leadership.”
