In an effort to strengthen the state’s ban on alcohol, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar introduced a new plan of action to address the issue of sham and illegal and spurious liquor trade in the state. CM Kumar announced that his administration would grant a reward of Rs. 1 lakh to people who put up their alcoholic beverage-related businesses in order to maintain themselves.
The idea is put into action when alcohol is illegal in Bihar. Four lakh people have reportedly been imprisoned on these grounds since the law was introduced and put into action in 2016 according to sources.

Nitish Kumar pledged to create a ‘healthy and happy’ Bihar on the occasion of ‘Drug De-addiction Day.’ He said, ‘Let us take a pledge to get rid of all drugs on the occasion of Drug-Free Day, and let’s do our part to create a drug-free society for a prosperous, healthy, and happy Bihar.’

On “Drug De-addiction Day,” Nitish Kumar vowed to build a “healthy and happy” Bihar. Let’s commit to eliminate all narcotics on this occasion, he urged.
According to CM Kumar, both those who sell alcohol and those who trade toddy are covered by the plan to remit Rs 1 lakh to individuals who give up their illegal alcohol business.
Only person who drink alcohol are arrested in Bihar, as opposed to those who run the industry. If they stop selling toddy and start producing neera (palm drink), Kumar continued.
