Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann assured that there will be no torture to anyone if Khalistani leader and Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh surrenders. He has been on run for 14 days now. The CM said that the police will function within their legal limits amid speculations that Amritpal Singh may surrender at Akal Takht in Amritsar. “We assure him nobody will be tortured. The police will function within their legal limits,” Mann said.
AAP lauds Punjab CM on crackdown against Amritpal Singh
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has lauded Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann over ongoing crackdown against Amritpal Singh. “The action taken by the Bhagwant Mann government in Punjab in two days was commendable. He has sent a message across the country that if anyone tries to disturb the peace, strict action will be taken against him,” AAP’ leader Atishi said at a press conference.
Punjab CM Mann’s daughter threatened by pro-Khalistani elements
Seerat Kaur Mann, the daughter of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is a target of Khalistani followers. Seerat reportedly received a threat over the phone from pro-Khalistani militants. The offspring of Bhagwant Mann’s first union is Seerat Kaur. Inderpreet Kaur Grewal, his ex-wife, now resides in the US with her two kids.
An advocate named Harmeet Brar, who is based in Patiala, provided the information. He claimed in a Facebook post that the pro-Khalistani elements had been calling Bhagwant Mann’s daughter Seerat Kaur abusively. He claimed that they had plans to gherao and harass Bhagwant Mann’s children in the US. He wrote, “Are you going to gain Khalistan by beating and threatening children… Such people are a blot on Sikhism.”
In a conversation with The Indian Express, Brar said, “I spoke to Inderpreet over phone and she told me that Seerat received death threat calls from pro-Khalistan elements. They abused her with extremely derogatory words. Some resolution has also been passed in a gurudwara in the US asking pro-Khalistan supporters to gherao both children over the situation in Punjab. Who has given such elements the right to harass Mann’s children? What do they have to do with what’s happening here?”
