Noida-Ghaziabad Metro and Rapid Rail Integration, A Commuting Game Changer in Sahibabad

Ghaziabad News

Ghaziabad News: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has proposed integrating the final planned station at Sahibabad with the Rapid Rail there, as well as submitting a revised route plan to extend the Blue Line from Noida Electronic City.

Sahibabad Metro Station Location

The DMRC report states that the Sahibabad metro station will be constructed in Vasundhara across from the current Sahibabad Rapid Rail station. There will be a foot overbridge connecting the two stations, which are located on opposite sides of the Link Road. As a result, travellers won’t need to leave the building to move between the Delhi-Meerut Rapid Rail corridor and the Blue Line.

Blue Line Extension Origins

In order to extend the Blue Line to Sahibabad, DMRC had filed its first report in 2018. The plan was altered several times over the ensuing years, mostly to reduce project costs. DMRC was asked to develop a plan for integrating the stations at Sahibabad when work on the Rapid Rail alignment started. According to the DMRC report, the metro route will pass through Indirapuram and Vasundhara and have five stations. These stations, which are located along the CISF Road, are Vaibhav Khand, DPS Indirapuram, and Shakti Khand. Sahibabad and Vasundhara Sector 5 are the other two stations.

Interconnection with Blue Line

Rapid Rail will also interface with the other section of the Blue Line, which runs from Dwarka to Vaishali, but it will do so in Delhi‘s Anand Vihar. On the same Link Road, incidentally, the Sahibabad station of Rapid Rail is not far from the Vaishali station. According to a cost-sharing formula that it has released, the UP government will use its agencies to contribute 80% of the estimated Rs 1,517 crore in expenses for the metro route. The state government’s promised fund will be split equally between GDA and the Housing Board. The Centre will provide the final 20% of the funding.
