Noida News: The local authorities have issued a warning to the public to avoid the swollen rivers of Yamuna and Hindon for the next 72 hours due to the prediction of rainfall by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The water level of the Yamuna River was slightly below the danger mark at 198.9m on Monday evening.
Heavy rains predicted in the next 72 hours
The district magistrate, Manish Kumar Verma, stated that although the water level had decreased in the past few days, the IMD’s forecast of rain in Noida over the next three days could cause the water level in the Yamuna and Hindon rivers to rise. Therefore, people are advised to stay away from the riverbanks and find safe locations.
Verma also cautioned against swimming or taking pictures near the riverbanks, while mentioning that the irrigation department is reinforcing the Yamuna embankment in Atta village and Tappal in Jewar.
BK Singh, the executive engineer in charge of the Agra canal works division at Okhla, mentioned that the water level of the Yamuna River had gradually decreased, which is a positive development. The water level was recorded at 198.6m in the morning and 198.9m in the evening on Monday.
