Devastated Villages Struggle with Damaged Homes and Health Risks
Significantly, hundreds of families are afflicted by flooding in the submergence area of more than ten villages on the banks of the Hindon River. While two homes have collapsed as a result of flooding, thousands of homes have developed fissures. People are being forced to live in the decaying homes as they return to the area once the flood levels have subsided. The fact that people have constructed homes on the village’s land by selling it for a loan has come to light. After water entered the homes, folks touched their hands to get them out securely. Due to water logging, the items still inside the homes have already become rotten. The undamaged homes are covered in mud and more mud. There are very few residences that are safe when individuals visit to inspect the state of their homes after the water has subsided. People are worried about cholera, diarrhoea, malaria, dengue, fever, hepatitis A, and chikungunya after the flood is past. On the banks of the Hindon, there is a substantial population. Infection is a big risk over here. In the flood-affected neighbourhood, nine health professionals and a mobile team are screening residents. However, other than a cough or fever, the area has not yet seen any patients with additional illnesses. To treat those in the flood-affected area, government clinics and hospitals have been placed on notice.
Police Maintain Vigilance as Flood Waters Recede
Anil Yadav, DCP for Central Noida, reported that Hindon’s water level is currently dropping. There is still risk present. Police officers are required to patrol streets and neighbourhoods to prevent people from entering Hindon. There are police officers posted here day and night. Everyone who lives close to Hindon has been warned not to come here. Barricades have been placed on the river’s access road. Duty has been assigned to 8 teams in Bisrakh, 15 teams in Surajpur, and 5 teams in the vicinity of Sector-63 Police Station in the flood-affected area. Mud has piled in the homes following the flood, and the roads going here have also transformed into marshes. It has not been simple to get to people’s houses in such a setting to assess the issue. Due to the disaster, there is no electricity in the homes. Only after the repairs are finished will people be allowed to go back to their houses. People claim that although the flood water may have left the homes, the walls are now utterly fragile. They will continue to be afraid of falling. He took a plot here and erected a house after selling the village land, but the flood destroyed everything. The population in the flood-affected area is susceptible to illness. After consuming tainted water, people may complain about stomach issues.
