Over irregularities flagged by CAG report AAP protests at Dwarka Expressway

Delhi nees

Delhi News: After the Comptroller Auditor General of India (CAG) reportedly flagged the huge cost escalation in the construction of the expressway the AAP on Wednesday protested at under-construction Dwarka Expressway.

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi and leader of the AAP, claimed that the Narendra Modi-led administration had shattered “all records of corruption.”

Party leaders and supporters gathered close to the Dwarka Motorway Highway to protest what they claimed was a “scam” with the project, including chief national spokeswoman Priyanka Kakkar and Reena Gupta.

“This is such a big scam that the road, for which an approval of ₹18 crore per km was given, was built at a cost of ₹251 crore,” Kakkar told.

According to media reports, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) chose to build an elevated carriageway on the Haryana section of the Dwarka expressway, which increased the construction cost from 18.2 crore per kilometre to 251 crore per kilometre. This decision was highlighted in the CAG audit report on the implementation of Phase-I of the “Bharatmala Pariyojana” highway projects.

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi and leader of the AAP, claimed that the Narendra Modi-led administration had shattered “all records of corruption.”

The claim has been refuted by the Ministry of Road, Transport, and Highways, which described it as “gross misrepresentation of facts.”
