Patna News: City Municipal Corporation Declares War on Road Enemies; Get Ready for a Garbage-Free City

Patna News

Patna News: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced that it will now label anyone seen throwing trash on the road as a “road enemy” in addition to fining them Rs 500. In an effort to maintain cleanliness and make the city garbage-free, the civic body is getting ready to launch a new campaign called “My Road, My Responsibility.”

A Comprehensive Approach to Tackle Road Littering and Maintain Cleanliness

On August 1, the 15-day campaign will begin. Throughout the campaign, there will be a special cleaning campaign. Names of people, business owners, and other people who dump trash around will be made public in their respective communities. “Those found littering roads or keeping sand, stone chips and other construction materials on streets will be tagged as ‘sadak shatru’ (road enemy),” read a statement issued by the PMC. According to a PMC official, CCTV footage from cameras placed along different routes will be examined to identify offenders. “Even locals can send us the photos of those throwing garbage on roads. Our team will also visit different localities for spot inspection,” the official added.

Enhanced Accountability and Ongoing Maintenance Measures for Cleaner Roads

The cleaning work will be overseen by a sanitation worker, sanitation inspector, and supervisor for each road, and their contact information will be posted on the walls so that people may report if the required daily sanitation or cleanliness work is not being done. Executive officers of the circles have been instructed to appoint a worker or surveyor to guarantee that the roads are kept clean even after the drive.
