Patna News: About 1 lakh 29 thousand 934 kilometres of NH, SH, significant district highways, and rural roads are present in the state. The length of the NH, SH, and major district roads in this is approximately 24934.41 km, and the length of the country roads is approximately 1 lakh 10 thousand 569 km. The state is traversed by 59 NH Gujar Guti in total. They are around 5947.84 km long. NH-31 is the longest of these. It is around 398 kilometres long. On the Uttar Pradesh border, the quickest NH 727A (Rampur Burjag)-Marwa (NH-227A) route is also given. About 3713.97 kilometres of state highway run through the region. About 15272.60 km of major roadways go through the district.
Bihar’s Focus on Rural Road Construction and Connectivity Initiatives
The state’s rural road construction has received special attention. Under this, highways have also been connected to settlements with at least 100 inhabitants. Numerous plans are used for the work. This comprises the State Plan and various State Plan programmes, as well as the Gramin Tola Sampark Nischay Yojana, Mukhyamantri Gramme Sampark Yojana, and Pradhan Mantri Gramme Sampark Yojana. From 2005–06 to 2022–23, approximately 1 lakh 10,000 569 km of roads and 1695 bridges were built under these programmes. This will probably cost somewhere around Rs 57,241 crore.
Bihar’s Ambitious Greenfield Motorway Projects Set to Transform Connectivity
Additionally, the state is planning to construct six greenfield motorways. They will benefit the residents of the state’s 38 districts. The Central Government has given its clearance for the construction of all of these. Most likely, work will start this year. This comprises the Amas-Darbhanga, Varanasi-Kolkata, Raxaul-Patna-Haldi Ya, Patna-Ara-Sasaram, and Bakarpur-Dumaria Motorways. It also contains the Gorakhpur-Siliguri Motorway. At an estimated cost of Rs 6927 crore, the Amas-Darbhanga Greenfield Motorway is being built over a length of around 199 kilometres. The Varanasi-Kolkata Motorway is approximately 686 kilometres long and is expected to cost approximately Rs 24,275 crore. The anticipated cost of building the 519 km long Gorakhpur-Siliguri Gu Motorway is 32 thousand crores. It will travel across Uttar Pradesh for about 84 kilometres. The anticipated cost of building the 695 km long Raxaul-Patna-Haldi or motorway is approximately Rs 54,000 crore. An estimated 118 km of the Patna-Ara-Sasaram Motorway are being built at a cost of over Rs 4,000 crore. An estimated 1542.55 crores will be spent to build Saran’s Bakarpur-Dumariaghat Motorway, which will be built across a distance of around 73 kilometres.
Bihar’s Efforts to Establish Buddhist and Jain Circuits
Additionally, efforts are being made to improve travel accommodations for visitors by establishing Buddhist and Jain circuits inside the state. Under this, efforts are being made to link the NH with the locations connected to Lord Buddha and Lord Mahavir. From Sarnath in Uttar Pradesh, the Buddhist circle will be expanded to Vaishali in Bihar, Gaya, Nalanda, Bhadaria in the Banka region, and the historic Vikramshila Mahavihara in the Bhagalpur district. Lord Buddha left Vikramshila Mahavihara for Tibet and Sumatra. Along with this, the Jain circuit would also include Pawapuri, a Jain temple in Bihar’s Nalanda district, Lachuar, a Jain temple in Jamui, Nathnagar, a Jain temple in Bhagalpur, Basokund Vaishali, a Jain temple in Kundalpur, a Jain temple in Patna, etc. After joining the Buddhist and Jain circuits of these areas, economic development of these areas will take place along with increasing emotional and cultural relations with the country and the world.
