Patna News: The Patna High Court has asked the Bihar School Examination Board to pay a fine of Rs 2lakh to a girl student who was incorrectly declared fail in the matric examination in the year 2017, and the result was corrected after two years by the board. The court has slammed the Bihar School Examination Board for forcing the girl to leave studies due to the humiliation.
Student was declared ‘failed’ wrongly by the Board
The petitioners had requested to court to give Rs 10 lakh as compensation to the girl. The girl had given her matric exam in the year 2017. Despite scoring 60% marks in all the subjects she was declared fail by the Board for scoring 3 marks in the subject Sanskrit. The girl in shocked asked the board to recheck the answer sheet of the Sanskrit paper.
‘Student suffered mental agony and trauma’
Two years later the girl was informed that she scored 77% marks in Sanskrit and the board has rectified her result. However the board was unable to give any justification in the court about the delay in the result. The court said the victim has suffered mental trauma and lost two academic years which can never be given. The act of the board is highly deplorable and requires to be condemned.
