Patna news: One person died while two others were injured after the police allegedly opened fire to disperse a mob which was protesting against the power outage in the Katihar area of Patna. Several people, agitated by the hours of a power outage, from Barosi town, gathered outside the electricity department to protest against the irregular supply of power and higher power tariffs.
One person dies in protest
At least one person has been reported to be dead in the protest that was held by locals against the electricity department over the irregular supply of power. As per the initial reports, the mob allegedly pelted stones and vandalised the office of the department. In an attempt, to disperse the crowd, the police opened fire which ended with one person getting killed, leaving several injured. The District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police were also seen on the occasion.
BJP slams Congress govt in Bihar
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has promptly responded to the accident and slammed the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government over the same. Shehzad Poonwalla, BJP spokesperson, condemn the occasion and compared Nitish Kumar with General Dyer, the British official responsible for the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

In Bihar anyone who demands their rights- youth, kisan, teachers, common man – get lathis or goli. Recently a BJP leader was also beaten & died ! This is he true face of Gen Nitish Dyer & his tanashahi govt. Is this SAVING DEMOCRACY? Or killing democracy?? Is this I.N.D.I.A’s idea of democracy ? From Bengal to Bihar – bullet, bomb, blast?” he said in a tweet.
Meanwhile, the locals said the power supply was interrupted from 5 am to 11 am amid the ongoing maintenance work.
