Patna News: Police Lathi-Charge on Anganwadi Workers Amidst Demands for Higher Honorarium

Patna News: On Tuesday, 25,000 Anganwadi workers and helpers from all around the state arrived in Patna. Massive protests demanding an increase in the honorarium and position of government employees were staged on Tuesday from Assembly, Gardani Bagh Gumguti, to the Dak Bungalow crossroads.

Eight-Hour Disruptions in Patna City

Patna city experienced disruptions for about eight hours during this time. To keep things under control, the cops had to use water cannons and some force. Five more people were hurt in an altercation between Anganwadi workers and helpers and the police during which the head of a female BMP constable was hurt.

Injuries to Anganwadi Workers and Assistants

Anganwadi workers and assistants also sustained wounds. Many were detained by the police. At the Kotwali and Secretariat police stations, a case has been filed against 5,000 anonymous individuals and 27 identifiable individuals. In Patna, Bihar, police use lathi-charges against Anganwadi workers who are protesting for an increase in their honorarium, among other requests.
