Pawan Khera: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has stated that Congress leader Pawan Khera has issued an unconditional apology on Friday, after being deplaned from a flight the day before. Sarma tweeted that he hopes that everyone will maintain the sanctity of public spaces and avoid using uncivilized language during political discourse.
Congress alleges Pawan Khera’s arrest by Assam Police
On Thursday, the Congress party stated that Khera was deplaned from a flight to Raipur, where he was supposed to attend the party’s plenary session. They also claimed that Khera was arrested by the Assam Police. According to sources, Khera was stopped from flying to Raipur following an order by the Assam Police, and officials from both Airport Police and Assam Police were present at the spot to arrest him.
Political controversy erupts over Pawan Khera’s arrest
Prasanta Kumar Bhuyan, IGP L&O & Spox of Assam Police, stated that Khera was booked on charges of criminal conspiracy and inciting communal disharmony due to his remarks targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A case was registered against Khera at Haflong police station in Assam’s Dima Hasao district, and a team of Assam Police left for Delhi to take Khera’s remand in connection with the case, according to Bhuyan.
