Janata Dal (Secular) is reportedly considering the expulsion of party MP from Hassan, Prajwal Revanna, who faces serious allegations of sexually assaulting multiple women. Sources familiar with the matter informed India Today that a decision on his expulsion is expected to be made during a JD(S) core committee meeting scheduled in Hubballi, Karnataka, at 10 am on Tuesday, April 30.
JD(S) Likely to Expel MP Prajwal Revanna Over Sexual Assault Allegations
Earlier today, JD(S) MLA Samruddhi Manjunath demanded the immediate expulsion of Prajwal and his father, HD Revanna, from the party. Manjunath expressed concerns over the embarrassment caused to party workers due to the videos circulating in the media and urged JD(S) president and state chief HD Kumaraswamy to take appropriate action.
The complainant, who claims to be a relative of Revanna’s wife Bhavani, alleged that Prajwal had sexually harassed her after she began working for him. She further accused Prajwal of making vulgar video calls to her daughter. Additionally, she raised concerns about threats to her life and her family members’ safety.
Congress government in Karnataka formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter
In response to the allegations, the Congress government in Karnataka formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter. Several explicit video clips allegedly involving Prajwal surfaced in recent days, prompting the initiation of the investigation. Prajwal, who is contesting in the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, reportedly left the country after the videos came to light following the polling on April 26.
The Karnataka government’s decision to launch an SIT investigation came after Chairperson of the Women’s Commission, Dr. Nagalakshmi Chowdhary, wrote a letter to the government, highlighting allegations of sexual abuse involving hundreds of women allegedly by Revanna.
The developments surrounding Prajwal Revanna have sparked widespread concern and attention, with authorities working to address the serious allegations and ensure justice for the victims.
