Pune Car Accident

Pune Car Accident: On Sunday, May 19, two people lost their lives in a tragic accident in Pune when a young driver’s speeding Porsche car crashed with a motorbike. The 17-year-old has been granted bail by the Juvenile Justice Board, with a list of requirements designed to encourage awareness and rehabilitation.

Conditions for Bail

The accused’s advocate clarified that the purpose of the bail requirements is to assist the adolescent in changing his ways and realising the consequences of his acts. The youngster is required by the Juvenile Justice Board to write an essay about the accident, work with the Yerawada traffic police for 15 days, get medical attention to stop drinking, and attend psychological therapy.

Police’s Stand

Pune Police have stated their intention to challenge the bail and demand that the accused be handled as an adult, notwithstanding the terms of the bail. Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar claims that because of the seriousness of the act, adult prosecution is required.

The Incident

The accident occurred around 3:15 am in Kalyani Nagar. After attending a party, a group of friends was returning home on their motorcycles. Near the Kalyani Nagar junction, the teenager’s speeding Porsche hit one of the motorcycles, causing the two riders, Anis Awadhiya and Ashwini Costa, to fall and die on the spot. Following the collision, the car crashed into the pavement railings. A video of the aftermath showed people assaulting the boy as he emerged from the vehicle.

Legal Actions

The father of the teenager and the pub that gave him booze have also been targeted by the authorities. Sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act will be used to book them. Section 77 addresses the sale of alcohol or narcotics to a juvenile, whereas Section 75 addresses the penalties for an adult in charge of a kid who abuses or neglects them.

Charges Against the Accused

The Indian Penal Code (IPC) lists numerous provisions under which the teenager has been charged, including:

He also faces charges under the Motor Vehicles Act. Despite the grave nature of the charges, the juvenile court granted bail within 14 hours of his detention, with the court deeming the crime not serious enough to deny bail.
