Punjab CM gave out orders to not fire bullets during Amritpal Singh crackdown
The Punjab chief minister said that there should not be an issue like Bargari and Behbal that would keep haunting the state for years. “He gave out the orders that there will be no firing of bullets and the police would not enter the premises of the gurudwara,” the official said.
Reportedly, the Punjab CM dialed Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav and took all the updates from him. “When it was decided that the entire village would be cordoned off, the CM asked the DGP to ensure that there was heavy police presence but no panic. So, it was decided that the police would be posted in the village in civil clothes as such heavy force in uniform could have become a reason for panic or protests,” the person told the newspaper.
The aide further said that Mann was informed that Amritpal’s network has been dismantled after all his partners and helpers had been arrested. The man who previously sheltered him was also arrested and the people of Punjab were also on alert as they stopped giving lifts to strangers.
