Punjab Government Allocates Rs. 140.25 Crore for Effective Liquid Waste Management in Villages

Punjab: The Punjab Government has given the Water Supply and Sanitation Department a total of Rs. 140.25 crore to handle liquid waste as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin (SBMG), which is another step towards the objective of transforming villages and transforming the state into “Rangla Punjab.” The government under Bhagwant Mann has released Rs. 103 crore of this total. This sum will be used in 2950 Punjabi villages.

Allocation of Funds for District-wise Implementation

Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Bram Shankar Jimpa provided more information, stating that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had granted Rs. 140.25 crore for the management of waste water in the villages in order to efficiently handle the disposal of waste water and other liquid waste. According to him, this sum will cover 2950 villages throughout 23 districts, allowing for efficient management of waste water and sanitation in the communities. He said that a total of Rs. 11.84 crore was made available for the 288 villages in the Amritsar district, Rs. 8.66 crore for the 89 villages in Barnala, Rs. 10.50 crore for the 226 villages in Bathinda, Rs. 5.28 crore for the 35 villages in Faridkot, and Rs. 1.27 crore for the 42 villages in Fatehgarh Sahib. Similar sums were distributed to 57 villages in Fazilka (Rs. 6.49 crore), 44 villages in Ferozepur (Rs. 1.22 crore), 604 villages in Gurdaspur (Rs. 10.32 crore), 89 villages in Hoshiarpur (Rs. 2.83 crore), 107 villages in Jalandhar (Rs. 3.80 crore), 73 villages in Kapurthala (Rs. 1.58 crore), and 196 villages in Ludhiana (Rs.8.63 Crore)

Focus on Safe Drinking Water and Waste Disposal in Punjab’s Districts

According to Jimpa, 78 villages in Malerkotla received Rs. 3.12 crore, 126 villages in Mansa received Rs. 9.97 crore, 99 villages in Moga received Rs. 12.11 crore, 71 villages in Mohali received Rs. 2.20 crore, 40 villages in Muktsar received Rs. 8.84 crore, 44 villages in Nawanshahr received Rs. 75.63 lakhs, 75 villages in Pathankot received Rs. 2.38 crore, 149 villages in Patial.He added that the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is working hard to promote village development on a whole and is paying particular attention to the provision of safe drinking water as well as the disposal of liquid and solid waste in order to transform state villages into model villages.
