Punjab: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has welcomed the arrival of the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2021 trophy in Punjab. Mann, who accepted the trophy at his home here, vowed to work tirelessly to restore the glory of hockey in the state. The Chief Minister stated that Punjabis have always excelled in the sport of hockey and have brought the state numerous laurels.

He stated that it was a matter of honour and pride for the state that 11 players, including captain Manpreet Singh, belonged to the Indian hockey squad that won a medal in the Olympics after 41 years during the sports event in Tokyo. Mann also mentioned the Indian team that won the country’s lone World Cup in 1998 was also led by Punjab’s son Ajitpal Singh.

Hockey World Cup trophy receives warm welcome in city
Nitin Kohli, President of Hockey Punjab, announced that, according to the tour, all Hockey World Cup officials will visit the state of Punjab on December 14, 2022. The Hockey World Cup team will arrive in Amritsar around 7 a.m. Furthermore, the World Cup trophy will be welcomed at Spring Dale School around 8:30 a.m. Following that, at 10:45 a.m., Guru Nanak Dev University will host a trophy welcome function. The trophy will then be taken to Amritsar’s Shri Darbar Sahib. The trophy will then be taken to Jallianwalah Bagh. It will then be transported to Amritsar’s Durgiana Temple. Furthermore, the trophy will be on display for the public at VM Mall Amritsar. The Hockey World Cup trophy will then be presented in the evening.
