Arvind Kejriwal: Harjot Singh Bains, the minister for Punjab and leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was arrested by the Delhi Police on Tuesday during the party’s protest over Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate.
Protest at Patel Chowk Metro Station
Bains attempted to hold a protest outside the Patel Chowk Metro station, which was closed earlier today due to the party’s request to gherao Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s home, along with a large number of AAP workers and leaders.
When the demonstrators arrived at the Metro station, police used a microphone to issue orders for them to leave the area in five minutes. The Delhi Police intervened because the AAP demonstrators would not go.
Metro Station Closures
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) declared earlier today that three metro stations in the city will close as a result of the AAP’s demand for protest. The DMRC added that entry and exit restrictions have been placed on Patel Chowk and Central Secretariat metro stations, while entry and exit gates at Lok Kalyan Marg metro station have been closed for security reasons.
“Due to security reasons, entry/exit at Lok Kalyan Marg Metro station, Gate no 3 of Patel Chowk Metro Station and Gate no 5 of Central Secretariat Metro station will remain closed till further notice,” the DMRC said in a post on X.
