Punjab News: 3 Ludhiana Schools on Notice for Student Data Mishandling

Punjab News

Punjab News: Three city schools have received show-cause letters from the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) after school administrators entered students’ incorrect exam dates for the Class X board exams, preventing the students’ roll numbers from being assigned. As a result, rather than taking the final exam in centres in Ludhiana, the students were forced to rush to the PSEB Mohali headquarters.

Students Bypass School for Exams

Instead of reporting to their school for board exams, many students go straight to the main office. For the exam on Friday, three students from Ludhiana and seven from Mansa showed up at the PSEB office. Two government schools are situated in the Sidhwan Bet and Nurpur Bet blocks, while one school is situated near Gill Chowk.

Teacher Raises Concerns

Sukhdarshan Singh, a teacher at a government school in Jagraon Block, stated, “Students suffer when all their classmates appear for the exam in one centre and they have to appear at the third floor of PSEB, Mohali. They travel for five hours to reach their centre which is 70 to 80 kms away. They wake up early, board buses and reach Mohali during the exams, which is tiresome. What is the fault of the students in this scenario? Why are they facing problems? Why is their centre so far?”

PSEB Secretary Responds

Although he acknowledged that there was an issue, PSEB secretary Avikesh Gupta stated that efforts had been taken to accommodate students. “Seven students from Mansa and two from Ludhiana appeared for the exam in our centre. We tried to accommodate the students in the school centre and save their year but a few could not be accommodated in the centres allocated to the school. Show cause notices have been sent to such schools for further penal action as they have to be alert in filling registration details of students,” he said.
