Punjab News: In view of the deteriorating law and order situation and bringing more efficiency into the administrative system, the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has carried out a massive reshuffle of senior officers. The Punjab government announced the transfer of several dozen IPS officers and senior administrative officers within the state on 1 August.
Comprehensive Administrative Reshuffle
In this comprehensive administrative change, the reshuffle includes the reappointment of SSPs in 13 districts. This reshuffle is undertaken with a view to improving the law and order situation and giving new impetus to the de-addiction campaign being run by the state. This reshuffle is likely to be instrumental in removing prevailing difficulties and shortfalls that have been affecting the quality and outputs of policing and administrative functions.
A total of 24 IPS and 4 PPS officers have been transferred according to the order issued by the Punjab Home Department. Key districts where new SSPs have been appointed include Mohali, Pathankot, Faridkot, Amritsar, Jalandhar Rural, Muktsar, Fazilka, Bathinda, and Batala. This appointment aims to bring in a new wave of energy into the administration and bolster law enforcement in different areas.
