Punjab News: In a dynamic effort to decrease drug abuse menace in the state, the CM of the Punjab, Bhagwant Singh Mann, led the Aam Aadmi Party government in inaugurating an important game christened “Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan.” This special event is aimed at inculcating the philosophy of leading a drug-free life with sports and active engagement among the youth of Punjab.
Diverting Youth Energy to Combat Drug Abuse
The third session of “Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan 2024”, which was launched last Thursday, forms part of the major campaign being waged by the Punjab government to eradicate the scourge of drug addiction-named the ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab‘ movement. According to CM Mann, the idea behind the ambitious scheme is to divert the energy and exuberance of the youth of Punjab towards positive work and save them from falling prey to drugs.
The local police have been vigorously implementing the event following the instructions of the government. Faridkot Police have, for instance, been conducting sports events like volleyball, football, kabaddi, kho-kho, and long jump in schools within their district. This would not only give the youth a sporting arena but also a medium to spread the word on how to live a drug-free life. The police personnel encourage them so that from now on, the students should involve themselves in sports and avoid falling into drug temptation.
Engaging Youth Across Block, District, and State Levels
Competitions under “Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan” would be held at block, district, and state levels covering nine categories. The program aligns with the overarching goal of the drug-free campaign by allowing youth to get involved in various sports disciplines for instilling values of teamwork, discipline, and health.
Through this initiative, the Government of Punjab aims to create a health-conscious and drug-free generation by intertwining sports with the daily routine of the youth of Punjab for its ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab’ campaign and for an all-rounded community development.
