CM Mann on Amritpal Singh
Taking a short point on Amritpal Singh and his organization CM Mann said, ‘The person who sought to steer the young person in the wrong direction has been detained. Amritpal Singh was the leader of a group that encouraged young people to take up arms and engage in criminal activity against the government. We won’t permit Punjab to become a breeding ground for hatred.’ He further added, ‘He was taken into custody today without exchanging a single shot. There was a broad conspiracy to undermine harmony, goodwill, and fraternity in the state, but we have detained all major figures. On March 18, we might have taken Amritpal into custody, but we didn’t want any bloodshed.’

He declared, ‘Our government is prepared to make difficult choices to uphold this hard-won peace.’ The CM claimed that as of Saturday, he was aware of the effort to arrest Amritpal. ‘I was asking the relevant officials for information every 15 minutes. I instructed the police to make sure that Guru Granth Sahib was not disrespected when Amritpal stormed the Ajnala police station while using it as a shield. Although the encounter left some police officers hurt, our force did not permit any unfavourable incident to occur during the hour of crisis,’ he said.
