7th Pay Commission: Dearness allowance (DA) for state government workers will increase by 4% starting on December 1, according to a statement made by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday. Amrik Singh, the president of the Punjab State Ministerial Services Union (PSMSU), stated that the DA will now stand at 38% following this increase.
Meeting with PSMSU Representatives
Following a meeting with the PSMSU representatives, a decision in this regard was made. Mann talked about a number of the workers’ demands during the meeting. “Had a meeting with the representatives of Punjab State Ministerial Service Union today and discussed their issues in detail… Sharing the good news that we are going to give a New Year gift to the employees… DA is increased by 4% which will be effective from 1st December 2023,” Mann said in a post on X.
Salary Increase Announcement
The president of PSMSU stated that the CM had given state government employees a 4% rise in salary after the meeting. He went on to say that the CM had promised to pay the final 8% of the DA. The workers had been calling for the reinstatement of the previous pension plan, the release of unpaid 12 percent disability benefits, and the regularisation of contract workers. The PSMSU ended their more than month-long pen-down strike on Sunday. It started on November 8. Ahead of their meeting with the CM, they called off their strike.
