A day after Governor Banwari Lal Purohit admonished the state government on drug menace and other issues in Punjab, minister Aman Arora on Thursday hit back at him, alleging that the governor was making political speeches and running a “parallel government”. Describing the problem of drug addiction as a major concern for the state, the governor had said on Wednesday that drugs have entered the schools as well.
Minister Arora retaliated on the Governor’s statement
Governor Banwari Lal Purohit, who arrived on a two-day tour of the border villages of Punjab, had said that the villagers say that narcotics are available at normal shops like groceries. Housing and Urban Development Minister Aman Arora alleged that it is unfortunate that the Governor is not taking care of the dignity of his post. During a conversation with the media, Minister Aman Arora said that it had never happened before that the governor of a state was seen giving a political speech. He is harming Punjab only for political gains. Arora said that the Governor talks about the issue of drugs, but where are the drugs coming from in Punjab. Who is responsible for these drug smuggling items coming from across the border.
Minister Arora made big allegations
Minister Aman Arora said that if these banned items are being supplied from across the border, then Haryana is on one border of Punjab. The BJP government there is responsible for this. He said that a few days ago, drugs were being brought from the port of Gujarat, who is responsible for that. The central government should take care of all these. Governor Banwarilal Purohit had said about the increasing intoxication in Punjab that intoxication has reached the schools of Punjab. The AAP government should seek the help of the central government to investigate this.
