Ashirwad Scheme: The Punjab government has disbursed Rs 4.43 crore to 870 beneficiaries under the Ashirwad Scheme for the fiscal year 2023-24. This funding comes from the budget provision for the fiscal year 2024-25, demonstrating the government’s ongoing commitment to social welfare.

Dr. Baljit Kaur, the Minister for Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities, announced on Friday that financial assistance has been provided to beneficiaries in Barnala, Faridkot, Moga, Muktsar Sahib, and Ropar districts. Specifically, 98 beneficiaries from Barnala, 128 from Faridkot, 207 from Moga, 237 from Muktsar Sahib, and 200 from Ropar have received the aid.

Commitment to Welfare

“The Punjab government is committed to the welfare of all sections of society,” Dr. Kaur stated. She emphasized that the Ashirwad Scheme is a significant part of this commitment, aimed at supporting the most vulnerable families in the state.

Eligibility and Coverage

Eligibility for the Ashirwad Scheme requires applicants to be permanent residents of Punjab and belong to scheduled castes, backward classes, or other economically weaker families. Additionally, the family income must be below Rs 32,790 annually. The scheme allows up to two daughters from eligible families to benefit, with the financial assistance being directly deposited into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts.

Direct Impact

The release of these funds is expected to provide crucial support to the beneficiaries, helping them to meet essential needs and improve their quality of life. The government’s direct transfer mechanism ensures that the assistance reaches those who need it most, without any delays or intermediaries.

The Ashirwad Scheme continues to be a cornerstone of the Punjab government’s social welfare initiatives, reflecting its dedication to uplifting underprivileged sections and promoting social equity.
