Taking a sarcastic tone aimed at SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann welcomed the defamation case filed against him. Mann expressed his anticipation that the legal proceedings would provide an opportunity to shed light on what he perceives as the “anti-Punjab” stance and alleged “misdeeds” of the Badal family.
Mann to Emphasize Daily Hearings for Public Awareness
Addressing the media after inaugurating a library in a Sangrur village, Mann disclosed his awareness of Sukhbir Badal’s decision to file a defamation case. The CM highlighted that he would request daily hearings to ensure the public is regularly informed about what he called the “sins” of the Badals. Mann underscored the importance of exposing what he believes to be the Badals’ neglect of Punjab’s interests for personal gains.
Allegations Against Badals in Canal Supply Issue
Mann reiterated his previous statement made during a debate on the Satluj Yamuna Link (SYL) canal issue, where he accused the Badal family of benefiting from canal supply to their farmhouse in Haryana’s Balasar. He alleged that the Balasar irrigation channel was constructed as a reward for Sukhbir Badal’s perceived betrayal of the state’s interests. Mann pledged to pursue the case in the interest of the general public, contrasting it with Sukhbir’s motive to protect his property.
