Now another toll plaza has been closed in Punjab. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced the closure of the toll plaza on the Samana-Pataran road on Wednesday. Officials have given this information. This is the ninth toll plaza to be closed in the state after the Mann-led AAP government came to power last year. Addressing a gathering, CM Mann said that these toll plazas were open loot shops of the general public and they looted public money by flouting all the norms of their agreements.
CM Mann accused the previous governments
CM Mann said that by closing this toll plaza on the Samana-Pataran road, the general public would save Rs 3.80 lakh per day. A government statement issued quoting CM Mann said that it is surprising that instead of taking action against them, the previous state governments turned a blind eye and ‘protected’ this loot. He said that the previous governments ignored the dubiousness of these ‘wrong’ toll plazas and allowed them to ‘extort illegally’. The facility of ambulance or recovery van was not visible at any of the closed toll plazas despite the provision of the agreement.
CM Mann told that passes were also made for the people living in the area of 15 kilometers on this toll plaza. He had to pay 100-200 rupees every month. Mann said that the company had thought that only if two governments keep changing, then their toll plaza would continue to function. But now you have got a chance, then such toll plaza will be closed. The company had demanded additional time citing Corona and other reasons, but the state government did not give them a day above the stipulated time limit.
