In a significant move preceding the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress party has undergone a major organisational reshuffle. Sachin Pilot has been appointed as the All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary, taking charge of Chhattisgarh. Avinash Pande replaces Priyanka Gandhi as the in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, while Priyanka Gandhi has been relieved of her duties as General Secretary without a designated state, prompting speculation about her role in the upcoming elections.
Party Realigns Leadership Roles in Preparation for Upcoming Polls
The reshuffle includes key appointments such as Mukul Vasnik, who now oversees Gujarat, and Randeep Singh Surjewala, appointed as Karnataka in-charge. Jairam Ramesh takes charge as the General Secretary in charge of communication, and KC Venugopal continues as the General Secretary in charge of organisation. Ajay Maken retains his role as the treasurer of AICC.
Additionally, 11 state in-charges have been appointed along with the 12 General Secretaries. GS Mir has been assigned Jharkhand and the additional charge of West Bengal, while Deepa Dasmunshi takes on Kerala, Lakshadweep, and the additional charge of Telangana. Ramesh Chennithala will oversee Maharashtra, and Mohan Prakash will handle Bihar. Dr. Chellakumar will be responsible for Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Arunachal Pradesh.
The organisational restructuring signals the party’s efforts to strengthen its leadership and strategize effectively for the upcoming electoral challenges.
