Punjab’s Labour Minister, Ms. Anmol Gagan Maan, has emphasized the need to expedite the registration process for construction workers within the state. Chairing a meeting with labour department officials, she reiterated that the government, led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, remains dedicated to the welfare of these workers.
Efficient Registration of Construction Workers Emphasized by Punjab Labour Minister
She made it clear that any laxity in handling registration-related tasks would not be tolerated, stressing that necessary administrative action should be taken against officials failing in their registration duties or in processing applications submitted by workers seeking access to government schemes. Additionally, she mandated that the department’s senior officials evaluate the progress of registration on a weekly basis.
The Cabinet Minister further instructed officials to ensure the seamless implementation of all state government schemes to benefit eligible construction workers. To facilitate this, she directed the organization of weekly registration camps for construction workers. Ms. Anmol Gagan Maan also urged contractors and homeowners to register their workers through the Punjab Labour Assistant Board’s online platform. She added that a monthly state-level evaluation meeting should be conducted to monitor progress.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Manvesh Singh Sidhu, the Secretary of Labour, Mr. TPS Phoolka, the Labour Commissioner, and various other officials.
