The budget presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday has disappointed the farmers and laborers. Jagmohan Singh, general secretary of Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta (Dakonda), who played an important role in Delhi Kisan Morcha, has criticized the budget. He says that this is the 10th budget of the Modi government, but this time also no special package was given to promote the agriculture sector in Punjab. Emphasis has been laid on increasing the yield of only coarse cereals.
Farmers themselves also want to get out of the cycle of traditional cultivation of paddy and wheat, but no concrete plan has been presented in the budget for this by the government. The farmer leader said that the central government should guarantee the purchase of all crops on MSP.
