Amid ongoing turmoil in the state over the recent activities of pro-Khalistani Amritpal Singh and his supporters, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday said that Khalistan supporters are getting money from Pakistan and other countries. The Chief Minister, however, did not reveal any concrete strategy to deal with the Khalistani elements, but said that the Punjab Police was capable of handling the issue and only a few people were supporting it in Punjab.
One thousand people do not represent the whole of Punjab
Chief Minister Mann said, do you think that one thousand people (who were seen raising pro-Khalistan slogans) represent the whole of Punjab? When asked what he had to say about pro-Khalistan slogans being raised in his state after the Amritpal Singh episode, Mann said, “You come to Punjab and see for yourself who are raising such slogans.” Mann was addressing a press conference after attending a mass wedding ceremony in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar.
Why do Pakistani drones land in Punjab?
Only a handful of people are behind this and they run their shops with money from Pakistan and other foreign countries, Mann said. He said, though, Rajasthan shares a huge border with Pakistan, but why do drones (sent from Pakistan) land in Punjab and not in Rajasthan? Because their (Khalistani elements) masters are sitting there (Pakistan) and they want to trouble Punjab. But we will not let them succeed.
