To promote eco-friendly public transport service in Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann approved pilot projects for starting e-vehicle service in Ludhiana and Jalandhar and e-auto service from Amritsar.
Presiding over a meeting called on Monday to take stock of various development projects in 47 cities of the state, the Chief Minister expressed hope that these modes of public transport would also be helpful in solving the traffic problem in these cities. The Chief Minister also informed that the state government would soon start a pilot project in Bathinda and Patiala districts to solve the problem of stray cattle.
He said that this would bring great relief to the people, as they would be able to get rid of accidents caused by stray animals. He said that there is a big danger to the lives of people in road accidents due to stray animals.
In the meeting, the Chief Minister also reviewed the proposed projects worth more than Rs 1000 crore to be implemented in different cities. He said that this would give a boost to the development of these cities. He said that with a project worth Rs 762.45 crore, 100 percent water supply would be ensured through canals in 47 cities. Bhagwant Mann said that the work on this flagship project is likely to start by August this year.
Pilot project of artificial intelligence in Amritsar
The Chief Minister further said that for the first time, the State Government has implemented a project to assess the need of work by ‘Artificial Intelligence’ to ascertain the need for carrying out any development work. He said that it has been started in Amritsar as a pilot project. Mann said that this model would be implemented in other districts as well to ensure need-based development works in the state
