Manpreet Badal was disappointed with the Congress

Badal expressed his intention to leave the party and the leadership of the Congress in a letter of resignation to Rahul Gandhi, the party’s leader. In his letter, he expressed gratitude to Gandhi for the opportunity he had been given and stated that he had dedicated all of his energy to every job he had held, both in the party and the administration.

He continued by stating that he no longer desired to be a member of the Indian National Congress due to the “prevalent culture within the party and the defiant desire in the present course.” In addition, Badal recalled that he had combined the People’s Party of Punjab with the Congress party seven years prior in an effort to become a part of a storied institution that would enable him to better serve the needs of the people of Punjab.

But he said that his initial excitement had progressively given way to disappointment and despair. Manpreet Badal’s political move is believed to be a reaction to the internal strife and infighting that has been occurring inside the Congress party.

Badal said, “Seven years ago, I merged the People’s Party of Punjab with your party. I did so with immense hope and an expectation of being integrated into an organisation with a rich history that would allow me to serve both the people of Punjab and its interests to the best of my ability.”
