MP Raghav Chadha is now finance panel member

In a reshuffle in the Parliamentary Panel, Raghav Chadha of the Aam Aadmi Party has been appointed as a member of the Standing Committee on Finance. The youngest MP in the Rajya Sabha, a chartered accountant by profession, Chadha is one of the seven members nominated to the Upper House from Punjab earlier this year.

Chadha’s nomination came after 24 committees were reconstituted for 2022-23. Eleven got a new president. The committee on the finance panel that Chadha has found oversees laws and policies framed by three central ministries and NITI Aayog.

In his first session in Parliament in August this year, Chadha spoke on economic issues like inflation and taxation. Apart from CA certification, he has studied from Delhi University and completed a course from London School of Economics.

In the reshuffle, the post of Home and IT panel chiefs kept falling from the hands of the Congress (the main opposition party in Parliament). The party’s Rajya Sabha MP, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who headed the home panel, was replaced by BJP’s Brij Lal, a former UP police chief.

Prataprao Jadhav of Maharashtra has been replaced in the IT committee in place of Shashi Tharoor. Along with Jadhav, the Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde-led faction now also holds the chairmanship of the House Committee.
