The National Investigation Agency (NIA) team raided Majith Mandi in Amritsar and village Kanve under Lopoke police station area in the early hours of Saturday. Different teams of NIA reached here at around 5.30 am. After searching and checking for about two and a half hours, the team took away some documents and electronic gadgets. This was done after the contacts of a person from Kashmir arrested in the Red Cross Border Narco Terrorism case came to the fore during interrogation.
The NIA team reached the importer-exporter in Majith Mandi. It deals in dry fruits, hot spices and medicinal herbs. The officers conducted the investigation for about two hours and during this time some people were also questioned. On the other hand, another team of NIA raided the house of a farmer named Major Singh in village Kanve of Lopoke border station. Some photos of this farmer’s 20-year-old son were uploaded on social media, due to which the team reached his house. Only the elderly parents of the farmer were present in the house, while the farmer had gone on a religious pilgrimage with his son. The NIA officials took away some documents and electronic gadgets from both the places after questioning.
Pathankot: NIA reached village Khudaipur, interrogated the suspect, seized mobile
The NIA raided a house in the Bamiyal sector adjacent to the Pakistan border on Saturday morning. NIA suspected that the said person was in contact with drug smugglers sitting in Pakistan and he used to talk on phone in many countries. The NIA also searched the house of the suspect along with the local police personnel. However, the NIA did not find anything in the search. The NIA interrogated the suspect and seized the mobile phone of the person for investigation. At present, the district police is completely silent in this matter.
According to sources, 3 members of the NIA team reached Khudaipur village of Pathankot at 9.30 am. He was accompanied by Tarsem Singh, in-charge of Bamiyal police post and a team of 9 employees. The team first searched the house of the suspect. On finding nothing in the search, the officials of the team interrogated the person and took possession of his mobile. According to sources, the NIA suspected that the said person’s wires were connected to drug smugglers sitting in Pakistan and his mobile used to talk abroad. Bamiyal police outpost in-charge Tarsem Singh says that the team made inquiries in village Khudaipur and searched the house. But nothing was found. After which the team returned.
