Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Bram Shanker Jimpa announced that over 97 percent of the water supply schemes in villages have been successfully repaired. Out of the 369 schemes affected by floods in the south, north, and central zones, 360 have already been fixed.
In response to the flood situation, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had released Rs 10 crore in the second week of July to support the repair of drinking water supply schemes and ensure that clean water is provided to the flood-affected people without any shortages.
Minister Jimpa held a meeting with department officials and field staff, stressing the importance of ensuring an uninterrupted supply of clean water. He assured that the remaining nine schemes will also be operational soon, thus further improving access to safe drinking water for the communities in the region.
