Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today made an announcement to preserve the flora and fauna along with recharging the ground water level for the generations to come.
Addressing the gathering after laying the foundation stone of Chitti Vein, the Chief Minister said that the state government would soon launch a campaign for conservation of natural resources. He said that there is no dearth of funds for this noble cause and called upon the people to make it a mass movement.
The government will increase the use of canal water by 60% in the first phase.

The CM said that the state government is taking steps to increase the use of canal water by 60 percent in the first phase. As a result, ground water extraction from four lakh tube wells out of 14 lakh could be stopped.
The CM said that the state government organized a first of its kind ‘Government-Kisan Milni’ to bail out the farmers from the current agrarian crisis. He said that after consultation with this mill, the government has decided to make canal water available to cotton growers from April 1.
