Punjab’s Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann, has unveiled a series of incentives and measures to support the industrial sector in the state. These initiatives aim to streamline processes, expedite approvals, and provide financial benefits to industrialists.
During the “Sarkar Sanatkar Milni” (government-industrialists’ meet) held in Ludhiana, Chief Minister Mann, alongside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, announced these measures. The key incentives and actions include:
- No Bank Guarantees: Industrialists will no longer need to provide bank guarantees.
- Single Window for Incentives: A single window system will be established to facilitate the disbursement of incentives, with delays to be adjusted against various charges, including stamp duty, house tax, external development charges, and groundwater charges.
- Title Deed Discount: A discount will be offered for industrial plot title deeds.
- Rationalization of Water Charges: Water charges for industries will be rationalized.
- Time-Bound Approval: Approval for building plans and factory maps will be granted within 15 days, with self-attested documents from authorized architects accepted as deemed approvals.
- Uniform Building Bylaws: Uniform building bylaws and rules will be applied by all relevant departments, covering both new and existing cases, with a focus on health, environmental, and safety considerations.
Chief Minister Mann highlighted the importance of these measures to boost the industrial sector in Punjab and promised to launch an online portal to expedite the disbursement of incentives. The practical feasibility of adjusting fiscal incentives against other charges will be examined in consultation with relevant agencies and the Finance Department.
These initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment and supporting industrial growth in Punjab.
