Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced on Saturday that no Republic Day parade in the state would take place at any ground with synthetic tracks. He took to social media to convey the decision and specified that the Republic Day function scheduled for January 26 in Ludhiana would be held at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). The CM expressed concern about potential damage to the synthetic tracks during the parade, which involves the movement of various vehicles and the display of tableaus. Emphasizing the government’s commitment to promoting sports, Mann stated that measures would be taken to avoid any harm to players or sporting infrastructure.

Preserving Sporting Infrastructure and Avoiding Inconvenience

Bhagwant Mann highlighted the inconvenience caused to players and the unjustifiability of such damage to tracks. He emphasized the government’s conscious decision to prevent Republic Day parades in stadiums with synthetic tracks to safeguard the interests of players and preserve sporting infrastructure. The CM assured that the government is dedicated to promoting sports and will take steps to prevent any harm to players or facilities associated with sports in the state.
