Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann launches ‘Sarkar Aapke Dwar’

The state government’s headquarters was in Ludhiana with the first meeting of the Council of Ministers outside Chandigarh on Friday.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann launched another public welfare initiative ‘Sarkar Aapke Dwar’. Presiding over the cabinet meeting, Mann announced that the council of ministers would now meet at least once a month in different towns and villages, breaking the age-old practice of stationing state government officials in the capital.

This will fulfill our promise of taking the government to the doorstep of the people, the CM said. He said that the entire official machinery of the state government from the post of Chief Secretary and DGP would be present with the cabinet ministers and would work from the same station on the day of the cabinet meeting.

“We will meet the public in the presence of the officials and listen to them patiently,” Mann said, adding that the move would prevent the public and officials from coming to Chandigarh from far-flung areas. He also directed the Deputy Commissioners and Commissioners of Police/SSPs to further increase their field visits.

“Our endeavor is to ensure accountability and transparency in the public distribution system at all levels,” the CM said.
