The issue of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann not attending the reception of President Draupadi Murmu is increasing. Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit has objected to this saying that I had called him personally, but he clearly did not come due to some compulsion. After his reaction, AAP has called Purohit’s comments very unfortunate. Murmu reached Chandigarh for the first time on Saturday after becoming the President.
Purohit said, “Mann was invited for this reception. He (Mann) had accepted it as well. They may have some compulsions. According to the governor, instead of coming himself, Mann sent a representative. “No matter how busy one is, I think it is important to fulfill one’s constitutional duties,” he said.
President Murmu reached Chandigarh for the first time
Cabinet Minister Aman Arora, who attended the event, reacted sharply to Purohit’s statements and said that it was unfortunate that the Governor raised a political issue from the Raj Bhavan’s stage. In a statement, Arora said that Mann had a pre-planned schedule and hence he had deputed him to welcome the President. Arora said five other cabinet ministers and all senior bureaucrats attended the event. The President was in Chandigarh to witness the aerial feat of the Indian Air Force at Sukhna Lake.
President Murmu had reached Chandigarh for the first time on the occasion of Air Force Day. A program was organized in his honor at the Punjab Raj Bhavan at 6 pm. From the stage, Banwarilal Purohit said that the Chief Minister and Governor of Haryana are present to greet the President on behalf of Haryana, but on behalf of Punjab and Chandigarh, he will thank the President. This issue is increasing. Actually, under the protocol, if the President reaches any state, then the CM of that state has to lead him. But Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann did not come to receive her. The reason behind this was said to be his busyness. After this the Governor said that it is important to fulfill the constitutional duties.
