On the instructions of Punjab School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, a decision letter has been issued to give extension of service for one more two years to state and national awardee teachers. Giving information in this regard, Punjab’s School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that this matter had come to his notice after assuming the office of Education Minister, regarding which he had instructed the officials to prepare a report in this regard and present it to him.
Punjab government committed to restore the honor of nation builders
Bains pointed out that the previous governments had excluded teachers from service increment after 2018. He said that the Punjab government headed by CM Bhagwant Mann is committed to restore the honor of nation builders. He told that according to the instructions issued on October 09, 1989, State awardee teachers were given reappointment for 01 year after attaining the age of 58 years and National awardee teachers were given extension of 02 years in their service period year after year.These instructions were applicable till new instructions were issued on 10.7.2018.
The decision to extend the service period has been reconsidered
Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that the decision to give extension of service to State and National Awardee teachers is a way of honoring the best teachers and also motivates other teachers. Apart from this, the department and the students also get benefited by getting more time services of these wonderful teachers. He said that the decision to extend the service period of State Award / National Award winning teachers has been reconsidered and it has been decided to implement it in the Education Department, due to which all State Award / National Award winning teachers will get 01 year extension in their service period.
