Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has given a big statement on the issue of stubble. He has blamed the central government for the increasing cases of stubble burning in Punjab. CM Mann said that the farmers of Punjab do not want to burn the stubble but they have to set the stubble on fire under compulsion and the Punjab government is not getting any help from the central government regarding stubble management. Bhagwant Mann said that the central government is constantly blaming the Delhi and Punjab governments for the cases of pollution and stubble burning.
Punjab CM said that we had already appealed to the Center but our appeal for compensation of Rs 1500 per acre to the farmers was not accepted. We had given another solution to the Center but what we had asked for the bio gas industry was also not approved. Now the central government is raising questions on the Punjab government. He said that why question only on ‘Delhi-Punjab’?
Haryana-Rajasthan’s AQI worse than Delhi-Punjab
CM Mann said that the AQI of many cities of Haryana and Rajasthan is worse than that of Delhi and Punjab. Faridabad tops this list. Why doesn’t the Center raise questions on these states? In every letter you ask how many FIRs have been registered against farmers. ‘Is the farmer of Punjab a criminal? Perhaps the central government hates farmers a lot.’
Stubble is being burnt by farmers in Amritsar. A farmer said, “We also understand that pollution is happening but farmers have no choice. If the government gives Rs 7000 to the farmers, then we should make arrangements and take out the stubble from the field.”
