The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar is set to host the second meeting of the Education Working Group on the theme of Strengthening Research and Innovation through Collaboration from 15 to 17 March 2023 in Amritsar, which is being prepared by the Institute.
The event will focus on the identification of relevant policies and best practices for research and innovations from the deliberations of the G-20 member countries.
CM Mann said that ‘ no stone should be left unturned in making this event a huge success.’
After reviewing arrangements, CM said that ‘Punjab was fully ready to host this event and asked officials to ensure foolproof arrangements for the working session.’
Emphasis on research and innovation
IIT Director Professor Rajeev Ahuja said that through this event, the government will build closer relations with the G-20 member countries and collectively provide answers to each country’s issues in reaching the SDG goals, while this meeting will cooperate in many areas. On cooperative strategy to encouragewill also be focused, which can be implemented.
According to him, the participants of the meeting include representatives of international organizations like UNESCO, UNICEF, World Bank and OECD. Where the event will emphasize on research and innovation. At the same time, the impact of cooperation on the performance of G-20 member countries will also be emphasized.
Role of academics
Key sessions will be held on research and innovations that will engage academics in research and innovation on affordable and sustainable energy, innovation for sustainable agriculture to reduce disparities within countries, achieve higher yields and reduce food waste. Role of, and aware of the environmentand help in innovations for responsible industrialization.
Apart from this, the meeting focused on accessing research and innovation opportunities, discussed ideas on women, socially and economically disadvantaged groups, improved innovation promotion and research discussions, cross-institutional collaboration. To reduce barriers in the direction of the G-20It will also help in strategizing ways to expand cooperation among member countries.
